Dreams of Factories

Heber Springs, AR - June 2012

Vacant space is an area void of activity, although there may be structural and societal potential.

"Occupation" implies the presence of subject, object, and ambiance.  The act can be termed "place-making."  With this motive, the question being asked is, "What is and could be here, there, and everywhere?"

It could be a place where something or someone goes, a place of ritual, or a place that becomes instilled in memory.

Occupation, in this broad sense, can be an act directed towards the socioeconomic liberation of a community.  This mode of action develops the conditions necessary for communal production, as place-making is a way a community can experiment with new community-wide arrangements. Occupation turns idleness into production.

The root meaning of "factory" is a "a place for (ory)creation(fact)."  It is a matter of finding a space and a place for everything in developing the conditions necessary for production.
